What’s all the Hype about?

The death of Vine may have come as a shock to many who spent hours on the popular six-second video app catching up on the latest viral trends. While this app may be on its way to the scrap heap, the founders of Vine are not quite ready to retire from the app game. To say farewell to their first hit project, as well as to introduce their next project, the Vine founders held an R.I.P. party on their new app, Hype. Their latest project will remain in the video realm but will focus on the growing popularity of live video feeds.
This move to live video streaming is not only going to be new territory for the former Vine team, but also a bold move into an already crowded market with some tough competition. Two direct competitors for this service will be Facebook Live which is steadily gaining popularity, and Periscope which already has a fairly large following. With this being the case, Hype will have to jump ahead as different from and better than its competition if it will survive these rough waters.
Knowing that they would be going up against very stiff competition, the Hype team made sure to load the app with features that would help them stand out in the crowd. Perhaps the most notable feature that the app boasts is the ability for users to incorporate multiple types of media into their streams. For instance, users can add pictures and videos from their camera rolls to their live stream. In addition to the ability to use past multimedia, Hype also features the ability to show comments from viewers on screen. Though Hype is still in its beginning stages, the app is primed to take on all challengers as it continues to build on its features and gain users.
