Using YouTube to Drive Traffic to Your Website
Vanessa Suarez | @VanessaSuarez__ With more than 1 billion views a day, YouTube has become the second largest search engine behind Google, according to Social Media Today. The site is a mecca for online video marketing and advertising, but exactly how have brands like Blentec and Old Spice used YouTube to drive traffic to their websites and to create an online brand identity? Here’s a step-by-step guide to lead you in the right direction.
Step 1: Video content. When brainstorming ideas for videos, remember the best way to leave a lasting impression on an audience is to evoke an emotional response. If that response is happy, funny or sad, the audience will remember it – and the brand behind it.
Step 2: Create the Video. Be sure the equipment being used to create the video will deliver high resolution video and clear audio. Editing also plays a large role in the creation process. Editing the video can take apart and put together entirely new messages.
Step 3: Add a hyperlink. After putting the final touches on the video, it will be ready for posting. In the description, add a hyperlink to your website. This way, viewers will quickly and efficiently be able to click-through to your website.
Step 4: Share your video. Like all social networking sites, sharing content is a must. Share your video on social media sites where your brand exists. Insert your video in articles and blog posts. Driving traffic to your video will ultimately lead traffic to your website.
Step 5: Interact with your audience. What is a better way to show your audience you love them than by personalizing a message just for them? Respond to comments and be interactive on your YouTube channel. Direct consumers to your website by replying to their feedback or simply comment to say, “Thanks for watching!”
Now that you are equipped with the right tools, you can begin taking advantage of YouTube campaigns to drive traffic to your site.
