The Sixth Annual Shorty Awards

Vanessa Suarez | @vanessasuarez__ If you’re asking yourself, “Do the Shorty Awards celebrate being short?” you’ve got it all wrong. The sixth annual Shorty Awards occurred this past Monday. If you’re behind on the times, we’re about to tell you everything you need to know.

The Shorty Awards pay tribute to the people and organizations sharing real-time short form content across the most popular social media platforms on the web. Shorty Awards finalists are nominated by every day social media users, but the winners of each Official Category are hand-picked by the Real-Time Academy. Jerry Seinfeld, Aaron Paul and Will Ferrell, who picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award, were among some of the winners this year.

You must be wondering, how can I be a Shorty Award winner next year? Here’s how you can. Engage your followers to Tweet a nomination following this guideline:

“I nominate @username for a Shorty Award in #category because... [ADD REASON HERE]”

Be sure your followers “add a reason here” to the end of the tweet because a nomination without a reason won’t count. No need to fret, short and sweet nominations are welcomed by using:

#shortyawards @username #category [ADD REASON HERE].”

Nominations normally begin in January and usually end mid-February. Keep up with the Shorty Awards for nominations and winners on Facebook and Twitter at @shortyawards. Good luck!
