Dig Up Your Snapchat Memories

By: Cade Robertson | @cadesgap

Snapchat can have an impact on the future of businesses and their brands. Snapchat Memories is a new feature on the app that revives old snaps and reposts them on your story with a time stamp. Here are a few things you might want to know before you start digging through your camera roll.

1. What are Snapchat Memories?

Snapchat Memories collects, stores, and replays your best snaps! If you can’t find a well-lit area you can swipe up, find any snap you want, and then look your best at a glance! As an added bonus, you can search keywords i.e. dog, cat, etc., and you might find the perfect snap. You can find the Memories button underneath the capture button.

2. How do you use Snapchat Memories?

When you take the perfect snap and want to save it for longer than 24 hours, you can opt to save the snap to your Memories. You can also add snaps to previously taken snaps/stories to create a bigger story with a possible theme. Adding stories together is a great way to express a company’s culture and brand.

3. My Eyes Only!

‘My Eyes Only’ filters out unwanted snaps from your Memories. This feature allows you to scroll through previous taken snaps without having to relive getting a bad haircut or being stuck in traffic.  When looking at your Memories, you can swipe over to the ‘My Eyes Only’ tab and scroll through the Memories you want to see and possibly post. You can easily set up the feature in your settings.

4. Don’t worry about your camera roll.

Even though Snapchat backs up your old snaps to your Memories, the app does not impact your personal camera roll under any circumstances. If you save a snap, it is automatically saved to the Memories section of the app; but you can opt to have the snap saved to both your Memories and camera roll via settings. As an added bonus, if your phone breaks, your snaps will be safe when the app is re-downloaded.
